A long term Investment Prospectus for the Bedford and Northen Marston Vale Growth Area is needed in order to bring together the existing strategies, plans, visions, and programmes of all the statutory agencies in a single, easily accessible document and thereby present a clear offer and unified vision for the Growth Area up to 2021. The Prospectus will perform an important role in defining Bedford’s potential economic, retail, housing and employment offers to decision makers and investors in the public and the private sectors, as well as to the wider communities who already live here, or who might wish to live here in the future.
The Investment Prospectus is seen as the principal vehicle for all agencies in the area to use as a means to market and promote Bedford, as well as a way for the public sector to invest in the Growth Area through the promotion and funding of short, and medium and long term strategically located land and premises based opportunities. The Prospectus will identify future infrastructure needs, costs, and potential funding mechanisms, areas for future investment, and identify the roles of each agency involved in these processes. It will above all else show what Bedford and Marston Vale will be like in 2021, and beyond, and what infrastructure needs to be put in place within that period.
