Anthony Glossop St Modwen Properties plc

A solicitor by profession, Anthony Glossop, a Cambridge graduate has had a varied working career. Starting as a constable in the Metropolitan Police, after qualifying as a solicitor, he worked in private practice before moving into the engineering industry as a legal adviser / company secretary. There he transferred to general management, eventually becoming chief executive of a West Midlands engineering group. In the engineering recession of the early to mid 1980s, he steered that group through a transformation into what is now St. Modwen Properties PLC of which he is chairman and latterly chief executive.

St. Modwen is a publicly quoted property investment and development company which specialises in regeneration. Its particular fields of expertise are regenerating tired town centres, re-claiming derelict brownfield sites, re-developing former employment complexes and rescuing heritage sites and buildings. It thrives on large, particularly, mixed-use developments.

Anthony Glossop has throughout his career been active in the communities in which he has lived or worked. He is currently chairman of the Worcester CAB and is active in his local church. He has, in the past, been a member of the Worcester Enterprise Agency, the North Staffordshire Partnership and the Stoke Local Partnership. He has also been a director of the West Midlands Development Agency and the Worcestershire Community Health Trust and chairman of the Worcester Civic Society.

He has been married for 37-years to his wife, Julia, and has two daughters and five granddaughters and one grandson.

Interests – Family, beekeeping, gardening, walking, history and current affairs.
