Bedford has entered a new and exciting period of renewal and development. A key element of this is the delivery of 19,500 new homes in the area by 2021. These homes will be built across Bedford, Kempston and the northern Marston Vale, the area identified by Government as a Growth Area. Housing developments will range in size from smaller strategic sites of under 100 homes up to major planned new communities like The Wixams at Elstow, which will provide 4,500 new homes, a significant number of new jobs and supporting infrastructure such as a four platform rail station approximately 30 minutes from London St Pancras.

Housing Trajectory
To support our understanding of the housing market and delivery in the Growth Area, we produce a quarterly Housing Report and Housing Trajectory. The Trajectory identifies the likelihood of housing delivery by year for the period 2001-2021, drawing evidence from our work and liaison with the local planning authorities, house builders, developers and landowners.
