Key documents relating to the Bedford Western By Pass, including Section 106 Agreements have recently been signed. The contract to build the By Pass can now be let with a probable start date of June 2007, and a two year build programme. As well as starting a vital highway infrastructure project for Bedford, the By Pass will provide access to two allocated housing sites with 2,750 homes approved.
The signing of the Section 106 Agreement reflects a huge amount of hard work by Bedford Borough Council, Bedfordshire County Council, English Partnerships,the landowners, David Wilson Homes and a range of other Agencies, including the Highways Agency, Environment Agency, Internal Drainage Board and Department for Communities and Local Government and Department for Transport, all of whose co-operation was necessary.
Renaissance Bedford has also played its part liaising between the parties and chairing the Principals, and the Programme Task Groups when required.
We believe that signing these documents comprises a major landmark for the Growth Area.
